Advanced Biofuels
Advanced biofuels (also referred to as second- and third-generation biofuels): are biofuels that do not compete directly with food and feed crops. Technologies used for advanced (second generation) biofuels production are those based on feedstock with no direct or indirect land use change and such technologies are progressing fast. In the EU legislation ‘biofuels’ means liquid fuel for transport produced from biomass and ‘advanced biofuels’ means biofuels that are produced from the feedstock listed in Part A of Annex IX of the Renewable Energy Directive.
In 2016, the EU and India established the EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Partnership (CECP), which promotes access to and dissemination of clean energy and climate-friendly technologies and encourages research and the development of innovative solutions. This partnership guides the energy and climate policy dialogue between the EU and India and helps to support joint projects and research.
