The Youth Climate Conclave (YCC) Third Edition was organized on 10 - 11 February 2022. YCC is an initiative of the Delegation of the European Union to India, together with GIZ India, CEEW and TERI. The initiative is implemented under the Strategic Partnership for Implementation of the Paris Agreement (SPIPA) project, where the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC) is the nodal ministry. Since 2019, the conclave seeks to engage in a positive and proactive way youth in science based discussions on the most relevant climate change issues.
During the third edition, in 2022, the inaugural session was held in the presence of in the presence of Mr Neelesh Kumar Sah, Joint Secretary, Climate Change, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, HE Mr Vincenzo de Luca, Ambassador of Italy to India, HE Mr Ugo Astuto, Ambassador of the European Union to India and Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI.
The two-day program included presentations by high level experts on topics, understanding the science of climate change and global community’s response over achieving ‘net zero’ targets”, “India acts” session under the umbrella of adaptation & mitigation, and lastly on what can we do, to emphasize adoption of a more sustainable lifestyle. It also included presentations on the Eco-clubs program of the MoEFCC from two different states. Screening of winning short videos and video messages from business leaders and climate personalities was also part of the conclave.
As an outcome of the programme, a Youth Pledge was drafted in a participatory manner by the youth and presented. The second day included a debate session among the youth participants. Click here to view the Youth Pledge.
