Net Zero Energy Tourist locations

Net Zero Energy Tourist locations

Under the EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Partnership five tourist locations across India, i.e., Shirdi in Maharashtra, Gokarna in Karnataka, Fort Kochi in Kerala, Leh in Ladakh and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, were studied and a roadmap was provided to achieve net zero energy status in each of these locations, in order to reduce as much as possible the energy demand through increased energy efficiency and to meet the remaining energy demand through renewable energy.

A knowledge exchange webinar between EU and India was also conducted, in which experts shared India and EU experiences in their net zero journey. Results of the feasibility study conducted at the 5 locations was presented during a webinar on 21 July 2022. This webinar witnessed a participation of more than 100 stakeholders which included Bureau of Energy Efficiency, State Designated Agencies (SDAs), building developers, architects and other relevant stakeholders.

A strategy paper for adopting net zero strategies at tourist locations in India was also developed as a part of this activity.
