The Need

The following factors have been identified by the Consortium as barriers to offshore wind farm development:

1. Limitations of existing offshore wind resource studies in terms of reliability, scope and duration
2. Absence of clarity on adequacy of supporting infrastructure
3. Absence of any offshore policy and regulatory mechanism
4. Gap in knowledge and lack of trained professionals
5. Perceptions of socio-economic and environmental impacts of offshore wind
