Speaker Profiles
Per Volund (Project Manager, FOWPI)
Mr. Per Vølund, Project Director for Wind at COWI A/S, Denmark, has an extensive experience of 22 years in offshore wind energy sector in the domain of project development, contracting, construction activities as well as operation and maintenance (O&M), this includes a decade at DONG Energy within offshore wind.
He played a role of technology innovator and pioneer in the development and implementation of Danish’s first 40 MW offshore pilot project of Middelgrunden Offshore Wind Farm from 1995-2000, London Array Offshore Wind Farm in UK, Borkum Riffgrund Offshore Wind Farm in Germany and several others.
Mr. Vølund is the Project Head for First offshore Wind Project of India (FOWPI) which is a European Union funded project, supporting the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE).
Dr. Rajesh Katyal (Deputy Director General, NIWE)
Dr. Katyal has done his masters in Stress and Vibration Analysis, Machinery and Structures, from Maulana Azad College of Technology, Bhopal and Ph.D. in "Wind Variability Analysis and Shape Optimization in Wind Sensitive Structures".
His core areas of expertise include Design & Analysis of lattice and tubular towers, performance enhancement of wind turbine components and sub-assemblies, hybrid systems for remote rural applications and Testing of Small Wind Turbines/Aero-generators as per Internal Electro-technical Standards (IEC).
Cecile Leemans (Foreign Policy Instruments, EU Delegation to India)
Ms. Leemans is in-charge of the Foreign Policy Instruments projects in the European Union Delegation to India, based in New Delhi. Since 2016, she is responsible for the successful implementation of technical cooperation projects between EU and India in the sectors of water, clean energies, climate change, resource efficiency and urbanisation. This includes as one project, the First Offshore Windfarm Project in India, FOWPI.
Dr. Jesper Skourup (Cheif Specialist, COWI Denmark)
Dr. Skourup has more than 25 years of experience within offshore and coastal engineering. His main competence areas are wave hydrodynamics, wave-structure interaction, computational hydrodynamics, analysis and management of Metocean data, numerical analysis of flexible riser systems, physical wave tank model testing of fixed and floating structures, teaching and dissemination.
He has prepared Metocean studies for many European offshore wind farms.
P.N. Ananth (Head, COWI Marine)
Mr. Ananth possesses a thorough understanding and over 30 years of experience including 13 years of R&D in the numerical modelling of hydrodynamics of the coastal waters and has applied it for various projects involving establishment of environmental design basis, wave transformation and tranquillity studies, sediment transport, effluent dispersion and cooling water re circulation studies.
He is also experienced in planning and design of coastal and marine structures covering design of breakwaters, seawalls and revetments, and other shore protection works. At present, he is Head of Department of marine in India.
