Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)
Ministry of Power jointly with BEE have enforced efficient usage of energy along with its conservation across many sectors including residential, micro, small and medium enterprises and the transport through a multitude of policies and programmes over the years since its inception.
Key programmes from BEE:
Framework for Energy Efficient Economic Development (FEEED) – FEEED is designed for development of fiscal instruments to ease financing of energy efficiency projects. The objective is to provide comfort to concerned stakeholders through implementation of energy efficiency schemes like PRSF.
Partial Risk Sharing Facility (PRSF) gives partial credit guarantees to cover a share of the default risk that participating financial institutions face in extending loans to eligible energy efficiency sub-projects. SIDBI is the Project Executing Agency for this programme.
BEE has set up a Facilitation Center for encouraging and up scaling Energy Efficiency Financing in the country with the objectives of:
- Developing an online platform for connecting FIs with potential borrowers to mobilize energy efficiency financing
- Collect the willingness forms and spread awareness of BEE’s financing schemes among various beneficiaries like large industries /DCs under the Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) Scheme of BEE, MSMEs, commercial and institutional buildings, Municipalities, Corporations, and commercial establishments
- Preparing the list of energy efficiency technologies that will be uploaded on the new IT platform and BEE’s website.
Energy Efficiency Financing Platform (EEFP) – Main objective of this programme is to provide a platform to interact with Financial Institutions (FIs) and project developers for implementation of energy efficiency projects.
